Creatinine with Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (CRTS1)

Creatinine with Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (CRTS1)

The Mayo Clinic Creatinine with Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) test measures the levels of creatinine in the blood and helps estimate the glomerular filtration rate (GFR), which is a measure of kidney function. Creatinine is a waste product produced by muscles and removed from the body through the kidneys. An elevated creatinine level in the blood indicates impaired kidney function. The eGFR is calculated based on the creatinine level, age, gender, and race of the individual, and is used to determine the stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and monitor progression of the disease.
