Understanding the TNF-alpha (TNF-a) Blood Test (FNFAS)

Mayo Clinic's TNF-alpha (TNF-a) blood test (FNFAS) is a specialized diagnostic tool used to measure the concentration of tumor necrosis factor-alpha in your blood. TNF-alpha is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by immune cells in response to infection and inflammation. However, elevated TNF-alpha levels are associated with chronic inflammatory conditions and autoimmune diseases. The TNF-alpha blood test aids healthcare providers in diagnosing and monitoring these conditions by assessing the extent of inflammation in the body. By accurately measuring TNF-alpha levels, this test helps guide treatment decisions, evaluate therapy effectiveness, and improve patient outcomes.
