The Mayo Clinic Variety Food Panel 2, also known as FDP1, measures the level of antibodies in the blood against four different foods: cabbage, paprika, spinach, and tomato. These foods are common causes of allergies and can trigger symptoms ranging from mild to severe. The FDP1 test is useful in identifying food allergies or intolerances, especially in people who experience unexplained digestive symptoms, skin rashes, or respiratory problems. A positive result may indicate an allergy or sensitivity to one or more of these foods, and avoidance or elimination of the culprit food can lead to relief of symptoms.

Variety Food Panel 2: Cabbage, Paprika, Spinach, and Tomato (FDP1)
This panel is essential for accurately diagnosing allergies to common vegetables like cabbage, paprika, spinach, and tomato. It aids in identifying the specific allergen causing allergic symptoms and is crucial for individuals who have experienced allergic responses or anaphylactic episodes related to these vegetables. The test is also valuable for confirming allergen sensitization prior to starting immunotherapy and in investigating allergic reactions to various substancesââ.

While we strive to make the results clear and concise, guidance and examination from your primary care physician are essential to fully understanding the results and determining the appropriate next steps.
Employing a multi-allergen IgE antibody approach, the panel serves as an effective initial test for allergic diseases. It requires less specimen volume and is cost-effective in ruling out allergic responses. Although it can't identify individual allergen responses initially, a positive result necessitates follow-up testing to differentiate between the specific vegetables. The panel uses Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay (FEIA), ensuring accurate measurement of IgE in serumââ.
